The Ministry of Indian Railways has put Hospet-Tinaighat section of Hospet-Hubli-Londa-Tinaighat-Vasco-da-Gama DL railway project on the fast track.
With this in mind, the ministry intends to double the track on the Hospet-Hubli-Londa-Tinaighat section — a part of Hospet-Hubli-Londa-Tinaighat-Vasco-da-Gama DL railway line project. The track doubling work is expected to be completed by December 2015.
Londa-Tinaighat-Vasco-da-Gama DL railway line, with a length of 352.28 km in Karnataka and Goa, is being implemented by Rail Vikas Nigam (RVNL).
In FY11, the Railway Board sanctioned Rs 2,127 crore for the entire project. This year, it has already allotted Rs 300 crore for Phase-I of the project, and will sanction Rs 300 crore next year.
The work of Hospet-Tinaighat, covering a 245 km stretch, is being taken up under Phase-I at a cost of Rs 928.85 crore. The project is funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
