The redevelopment of Ranchi Railway Station has entered its final phase, with major facilities set to open in January 2026.
The station's South Gate is expected to welcome passengers, and platform number six will begin operations. Construction work is progressing rapidly, transforming the station into a modern, world-class facility. Platform operations from the old station building will be gradually shifted to platform six. The newly constructed G+2 building is nearing completion, with finishing touches like tile laying, false ceilings, and electrical fittings underway. The station is designed to offer airport-like facilities, including a food plaza with seating for about 2,500 passengers.
With a total project cost of Rs 447 crore, the redevelopment will increase passenger capacity to 35,000 at a time. The station will feature 17 lifts, 19 escalators, and 100 retiring rooms for passenger accommodation. The upgraded station will significantly enhance passenger comfort and ease congestion, making it a modern transport hub for Ranchi.
