At least 49 railway stations of the South East Central Railway (SECR) zone, including 30 in Chhattisgarh, are planned for renovation and modernisation under the 'Amrit Bharat Station' scheme. A long-term master plan will be drafted for the redevelopment to enhance facilities apart from the essential ones at railway stations as per the requirements under the scheme and is to be implemented in a phased and time-bound manner.
Under the Ministry of Railways, 1,275 railway stations will be revamped under the 'Amrit Bharat Station' scheme, which includes 49 stations in the SECR zone, which comprises Raipur, Bilaspur and Nagpur divisions. Of these, 30 are in Chhattisgarh, nine in Madhya Pradesh, eight in Maharashtra and two in Odisha.
Raipur, Bilaspur, Raigarh, Korba, Durg and Rajnandgaon in Chhattisgarh, Anuppur, Shahdol, Umaria, Balaghat in Madhya Pradesh and Gondia in Maharashtra are among the stationsto be covered under the scheme.
The existing amenities will also be upgraded, such as free Wi-Fi, waiting rooms and toilets, information systems, among other facilities. Apart from this, the roads adjacent to stations will also be widened.
