Switzerland-based SIG has inaugurated Phase-I of its first aseptic carton plant in Gujarat with a Euro 90 million investment. Located at Bhayala near Ahmedabad, the plant has a production capacity of four billion carton packs annually and will employ around 300 people. SIG plans further expansion with Phase-II, investing an additional Euro 50 million to introduce in-house board construction for packing materials, expected to be completed by 2027.
“This is our first aseptic carton plant in India and the 10th in the world. It has a capacity for printing and finishing 4 billion carton packs per annum and will employ about 300 persons,” SIG's President and GM for India, Middle East, and Africa, said Abdelghany Eladib.
The plant will cater to clients in the dairy and non-carbonated soft-drinks sector, including Amul, Milky Mist, ITC, Coke, and Pepsi, among others. SIG envisions further expansions (Phase-3 and Phase-4) to increase the plant's production capacity to 10 billion packs. SIG’s aseptic cartons ensure a shelf life of 12 months and are available in various sizes and shapes, targeting different price points.
