The Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN) is planning to
execute seven more projects, five in Himachal Pradesh and two in Uttaranchal to raise its capacity to 4,000 MW.
These seven projects would be completed over the next five years.
Of the five identified project in Himachal
Pradesh, the company has already commenced investigation work for the 439 MW Rampur project
which is estimated to cost around Rs.2,308 crore.
The other projects in the pipeline include the
402 MW Shongtong-Karchham project, the 450 MW Khab-I, 400 MW Thopan-Poweri and 480
MW Jangi Thopan hydro power projects.
Besides these
projects, the Uttaranchal government has entrusted two projects -- 230 MW power
project at Sela Urthing and 240 MW project at Chhanger-Chal to the
corporation for detailed investigations. These two projects would be implemented
on Dhauliganga river.
It may be recalled that SJVN has recently
commissioned the Rs.8,600 crore
Nathpa-Jhakri project.
