SLB Ethanol is constructing a distillery (fuel grade bio ethanol) unit with capacity of 200 klpd at Thervoy Kandigai village, SIPCOT Industrial Area Gummidipoondi taluka in Tiruvallur district of Tamil Nadu. As of now, around five percent of the project work has been completed.

The proposed unit will cover over 19.94 acres of land parcel and includes a 5.3 MW co-generation power plant, 112 tpda DWGS dryer unit and 156 tpd of fermentation unit. The project also involves construction of a sewage treatment Plant (STP) with a capacity of 25 kld, and would generate employment opportunities for about 150 individuals.

The ministry of environment, forest and climate change (MoEF&CC) granted environmental clearance (EC) for the project to SLB Ethanol in October 2022.

According to the updates available with Projects Today, the company has scheduled the completion of the work on the project by Q4/FY24.
