Sahasra Semiconductors expects to become the first company to set up a memory chip assembly, test and packaging unit in the country.
The company targets to start selling locally-made chips by December 2022. The company plans to infuse a total of Rs 750 crore in setting up the unit at Bhiwadi in Rajasthan.
The company will invest Rs 150 crore in FY23 to set up the ATMP facility in Elcina manufacturing cluster in Bhiwadi and is expected to be operational by the end of FY23.
Once the market is established and the revenue reaches in the range of Rs 250-300 crore then it will again invest Rs 600 crore.
Sahasra Semiconductors is one of the companies whose proposal to set up an ATMP unit was approved under the Scheme for Promotion of Manufacturing of Electronic Components and Semiconductors (SPECS) of Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme.
