Samhi Hotels will transform an office building in Hyderabad’s Hitech City into a 170-175-room luxury hotel under Marriott International’s W Hotel brand, with a launch planned by FY27. This marks India's first office-to-hotel conversion, demonstrating a novel approach in the country's hospitality sector.
Ashish Jakhanwala, Chairman and CEO of Samhi Hotels, emphasised the project's significance, stating, "This will be the first-ever initiative of converting an office building into a hotel in the country."
Samhi recently acquired nine hotels from Kuwait’s Asiya Capital Investments Company, integrating them into its portfolio and restructuring debt, which now stands at Rs 1,900 crore. Notable rebranding projects include converting properties in Pune and Jaipur from Four Points by Sheraton to Courtyard by Marriott and Tribute Portfolio brands, respectively. In addition to its Hyderabad project, Samhi plans to expand its inventory across various locations. New room additions are slated for Sheraton Hyderabad, Hyatt Regency Pune, and Holiday Inn Express Bengaluru.
The company also launched Holiday Inn Express hotels in Greater Noida and Kolkata during the ongoing financial year. A 142-room hotel in Bengaluru’s Whitefield area, acquired for Rs 205 crore, has been rebranded as Trinity Hotel and will join Marriott’s Tribute Portfolio. Samhi’s growth includes a 220-room Westin hotel adjacent to the Trinity Hotel, forming a 360-room complex. The company operates six existing properties in Bengaluru and plans to grow its total inventory from 4,900 rooms to 5,600 by FY29, with its five-star inventory doubling to 2,000 rooms.
