Samsonite International is exploring a four lakh sq. ft. warehouse to expand its manufacturing capacity across India and enhance market reach. Meanwhile, it has tied-up with a third-party provider near its factory as a temporary arrangment.
By the end of 2023, the luggage manufacturer and retailer will also be ramping-up the network of retail stores to 600. In addition, it is planning to launch about 20 more stores under the Samsonite brand with a target to take the count to 100.
The project to augment hard luggage capacity from five lakh pieces a month to 7.5 lakh pieces a month at its Nashik plant in Maharashtra, is expected to be ompleted by July, 2024. The capacity expansion will be carried out with an investment of Rs 160 crore and would serve both domestic as well as export markets.
The company operators under three major brands: Samsonite, American Tourister and Kamiliant. At present, there are around 460 stores of American Tourister, and the company plans to launch 40 more by November this year.
