Vaccine manufacturing plant Sapigen Biologix at Odisha Biotech Park, Andharua will start commercial production by May this year. The plant, which will have a capacity to produce 2.4 crore doses of different vaccines per day, is in its final phase of commissioning.

This plant is coming up with an investment of Rs 1,500 crore, and will create direct employment for 1,500 people. With its full capacity, this facility in Odisha will be the biggest vaccine producing plant in the country. These vaccines will be supplied to many parts of the world.

The Hyderabad-based company, a subsidiary of Biovet, will be the first vaccine manufacturer to start commercial production from the state.

With this large anchor manufacturing plant, many other complementary biotechnology related product companies will get attracted to the Odisha Biotech Park, creating major investment avenues and job creation in the field.
