The Secunderabad Railway Station redevelopment project is progressing swiftly, with several components already completed or under active construction. A significant milestone was achieved with the completion of the new Railway Protection Force (RPF) building, alongside a temporary booking office.
Construction activities are currently underway for critical infrastructure, including an air concourse, multi-level car parking (MLCP) on the north side, foot over bridges (FOBs), elevators, and the south-side electric sub-station. Foundation work is largely completed on the south side, where basement construction is 90 percent complete. This basement will house parking for 200 vehicles, while the ground floor will serve as a drop-off zone.
The redevelopment project, awarded to Girdharilal Construction, is valued at Rs 720 crore and is expected to be completed by late 2025 or early 2026. Two new 33 KV electric substations will replace older 11 KV units to meet increased power demands. Officials from South Central Railway (SCR) emphasised that the redevelopment is being executed with minimal disruption to passengers.
The new station will feature modern architecture and world-class amenities, enhancing the travel experience. Progress is closely monitored, with strict adherence to safety standards throughout the construction.
