Sembmarine Kakinada Ltd (SKL), a JV of Singapore based Sembawang Shipyard and
Kakinada Seaports, is likely to set up a shipyard at Kakinada port in Andhra
Pradesh, at an estimated cost of $375 million (approx Rs 1,725 crore) to cater
to offshore units and merchant vessels operating in Indian waters.
The facility is to be developed in three phases over three to five years. It
likely to offer integrated services to offshore vessels and merchant ships for
construction, conversion, repair and servicing works.
Transocean Offshore International Ventures India, Aban Offshore and MARCAS
have entered an agreement with SKL to use the shipyard’s facilities to support
their ongoing drilling units.
