The City Improvement Committee (CIC) of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), on 5 December 2011, approved the sewage infrastructure project in the city.
The CIC has approved Rs 715 crore for setting up five sewage treatment plants as well as augmenting the capacity of five existing plants. The five treatment plants will be set up at Warje, Hadapsar, Vadagon budruk, Bopodi and Dhanori. Also, laying of pipelines, drainage lines and repairing of the current drainage lines will also be carried out. The PMC will provide 10 per cent of the total cost of the project, the state government will give 20 per cent , while the Union Government will provide 70 per cent of the project cost. The Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran (MJP) has been appointed as the consultant for the proposed project.
