Shivneri Sugars has initiated expansion plans for its sugar factory in Satara district of Maharashtra. Currently, the existing unit has capacity to produce 800 tccpd of sugar.
The company now aims to increase the sugar capacity from 800 tccpd to 10,000 tccpd. Additionally, the project also intends to set up a molasses- based distillery unit of 200 klpd. To support the sugar unit and the distillery, the company plans to establish 60 MW co-generation power unit.
Talking to Projects Today, an official at Shivneri Sugars confirmed that financial closure is in process and was awaiting environmental clearance. The project work is expected to commence by April 2019.
The project worth Rs 520 crore will generate employment opportunity for 640 persons.
