SiCSem, a subsidiary of Archean Chemical Industries, is set to lay the foundation for its second semiconductor unit in Odisha on November 1.
Located at Info Valley, the new compound semiconductor manufacturing facility will span 23 acres, with a significant investment of Rs 2,067 crore. The plant aims to process 60,000 SIC wafers annually and produce around 96 million MOSFETs and Diodes, supporting key sectors like EVs, renewable energy, and smart grids. The project promises to generate approx. 1,000 direct employment, and numerous indirect opportunities.
SiCSem's R&D Centre, SICRIC, at IIT-Bhubaneswar is also set to enhance indigenous research in SiC technology. This, along with RIR Power Electronics Ltd’s facility, positions Odisha as a semiconductor manufacturing hub under India Semiconductor Mission (ISM).
