Star Cement Meghalaya, a subsidiary of Star Cement, has been declared the ‘preferred bidder’ for the Boro Hundong limestone block in Assam through e-auctions conducted by the state government.
The 400-hectare block, located in Dima Hasao district, holds an estimated 146.75 million tonne limestone resource. In line with its expansion plans,
Star Cement has proposed a Rs 3,200-crore cement clinker and grinding plant in Assam. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the company and the Assam government at the Advantage Assam business summit, as announced by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Additionally, the Assam government signed a Rs 1,500-crore contract with Matheson Hydrogen for a hydrogen and steam generation plant. Other agreements include a Rs 500-crore MoU with Global Health and two non-financial pacts with ITE Education Service.
