On 1 July 2007, Honda Siel's Chairman,
Mr.Siddharth Sriram laid the foundation stone for its second passenger car
manufacturing unit at Tapukara village, Bhiwadi in Alwar district of Rajasthan.
The project will be set up with an
initial investment of Rs.1,000 crore. The total investment is about Rs.5,000
crore, of which Rs.2,200 crore will be by the ancillaries of HSCI and the rest
from Honda.
The plant will be spread over 750
acres of land of which 100 acre will be used for setting up Honda's R&D centre.
The facility will have an initial capacity of 60,000 units, which will be scaled
up to two lakh units.
Work on the project is scheduled for
completion by 2009.
