The structural design for Phase 2 of the Gurugram Metro project is underway, with 13 stations planned for key sectors like Sector-4, Sector 5, Palam Vihar, and Bajghera Road.
Systra, the French agency in charge, has nearly completed the architectural and structural designs, which will soon be reviewed by GMRL and HMRTC. Additionally, alignment work for underpasses and grade separators, along with Leg 1 drain work, is being finalised. Phase 2 construction is anticipated to finish by 2030 or 2031, with initial plans focusing on extending the Metro to Sector-9 and the Gurugram railway station.
The project's estimated cost is between Rs 1,100 crore and Rs 1,200 crore, as per an oficial. If the design shifts from elevated to underground, costs and timelines could double, potentially causing delays. The final decision on the design shift is awaited, following government review.
