Sumeet Industries, a leading polyester manufacturer in India, has announced plans to secure long-term renewable power for its operations through a 4.20 MW captive wind energy project.
This initiative aims to reduce energy costs, ensure a reliable green power supply, and strengthen the company’s sustainability and ESG commitments. The move complements its existing 14 MW solar power capacity. The company’s Board of Directors approved acquiring up to a 26 percent equity stake in Bajrang Green Energy One, a newly formed special purpose vehicle focused on generating wind energy in Gujarat. Bajrang Green Energy One operates under the captive open access model and is yet to begin commercial operations.
Pending regulatory approvals, the supply of wind power to Sumeet Industries is expected to start by March 2026. The project is anticipated to enhance power cost efficiency and reduce reliance on conventional energy sources.
