TI Clean Mobility, the electric vehicle arm of Murugappa Group's Tube Investments of India, has inaugurated a manufacturing facility for electric small commercial vehicles (e-SCVs) at Ponneri, Chennai.

The five lakh sq. ft. plant, operated by TIVOLT Electric Vehicles, has an annual production capacity of 50,000 e-SCVs aimed at addressing the rising demand in the Small and Light Commercial Vehicle segments. The facility was inaugurated by Arun Murugappan, Executive Chairman of Tube Investments of India (TII), along with Jalaj Gupta, Managing Director of TI Clean Mobility, and Saju Nair, CEO of Tivolt Electric Vehicles.

The plant will focus on manufacturing the Eviator e-SCV, which offers a certified range of 245 km (with a real-world range of 170 km), an 80 kW power output, and 300 Nm torque. It is considered the most powerful in its segment and comes with an extended warranty of up to 7 years or 2.5 lakh km.
