The fertilizer project at Talcher in Odisha being developed by Talcher Fertilizers, which will be India’s first coal gasification-based urea production facility, will be commissioned by 2022. The project implementation has been put on fast track.
The production facility with a capacity of 1.27 million tpa will be installed at an estimated investment of Rs 11,600 crore.
The bids are under evaluation for the coal gasification unit and other major tenders for ammonia and urea plants have also been floated.
TFL has been allotted captive coal mine in the Talcher region. Mine development activity has commenced and will ensure steady supply of the feedstock for maintaining continuous operations of the plant.
Full-fledged project activities are expected to commence at Talcher site within a month.
