The Tamil Nadu Government has sanctioned its approval to construct a railway overbridge near Erode Station in Erode district of the state.
The project, estimated to cost Rs 40.16 crore, will come up between Sankari Durg and Erode railway stations and will connect traffic from Tiruchengode and Pallipalayam to Salem, Namakkal and Erode districts. Since Railways has expressed its inability to construct a new bridge to replace the existing one, the state government has sanctioned funds for construction of the overbridge.
The state has also granted the government's administrative approval for constructing bridges in Thanjavur district at a total cost of Rs 36 crore. One bridge will be constructed between Thanjavur Town and Alakudi railway stations at a cost of Rs 29 crore, and another bridge across Keezh Vennaru river at a cost of Rs seven crore.
