Tata Motors is planning to raise production at its Nano plant in Sanand,
Gujarat.
The company has shifted production of Nano from its Pantnagar facility
(Uttarakhand) to Sanand. The Sanand plant has the capacity to roll out 20,000
units per month. However, the current monthly production is around 5,000 units.
The production of Nano cars is likely to return to the levels of 8,000-9,000
by early 2011. According to sources, the whole supply chain is to be operational
before augmenting production. Some of the component suppliers at the vendor park
attached to the Sanand plant are yet to commence operations. There are 41
component makers at the vendor park.
