Telangana has attracted investments totalling Rs 29,000 crore from Ecoren Energy India and GPSR Arya under the newly launched Telangana Clean and Green Energy Policy 2025.
These strategic agreements, formalised through memorandums of understanding with the Telangana Renewable Energy Development Corporation (TGREDCO), were signed in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka.
Ecoren Energy is set to invest Rs 27,000 crore in wind and solar power projects across multiple locations in Telangana. The company’s initiatives include a 3,279 MW wind-solar hybrid project across Sangareddy and Narayanpet districts, a 1,650 MWp floating solar project in Jayashankar Bhupalpally, and a 650 MWp ground-mounted solar project in Jogulamba Gadwal. These projects are projected to reduce approx. 400 million tonne of carbon emissions over a 25-year period, create about 16,200 local employment.
In parallel, GPSR Arya, through joint ventures with Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL), will invest around Rs 2,000 crore in 15 compressed biogas (CBG) plants, each with a 15 TPD capacity. The plants will be spread across Medak, Sangareddy, Siddipet, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Rajanna Sircilla, Jagtial, Khammam, Suryapet, Nalgonda, Yadadri, Wanaparthy, Mahabubnagar, Kamareddy, and Nizamabad. The biogas projects will use agro waste and napier grass, with an annual consumption of approx. 7.5 lakh tonne of surplus paddy straw.
This effort is expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by about 17.24 tonne annually and generate around 3,000 direct employment opportunities. As part of the city gas distribution (CGD) ecosystem, the produced biogas will be supplied to operators like Torrent Gas, IOC, Megha Gas, and Maharashtra Natural Gas.
