The Telangana government has constituted a high-level committee led by the engineer-in-chief to recommend measures for the protection and fortification of the Singur reservoir.
The panel will base its study on the report submitted by the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) and prepare a detailed project report (DPR) for the government. At a review meeting with irrigation officials on 19 August, 2025, Health Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha announced the decision. Highlighting the inflow from Maharashtra and Karnataka, he noted that 45,000 cusecs of water had been released downstream to ensure dam safety, while clarifying there was no immediate danger.
Officials have been instructed to use advanced technology for the DPR and propose alternatives to ease pressure on the reservoir. The initiative underscores Telangana’s proactive approach to safeguarding critical water infrastructure amid rising inflows and potential flood risks.
