Toray Industries (India) is setting up a technical textile manufacturing unit at Sri City in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh.
The project will have two plants – polypropylene (PP) spun bond plant to produce advanced technical textile meditech used in diaper-manufacturing and engineered plastics resin compounding plant to make raw materials for electrical components of automobiles and electronic connectors.
The project which will spread over 109.35 acres of land parcel is being developed at a cost of Rs 1,000 crore.
The state government inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) during the three-day Andhra Pradesh CII Partnership Summit 2018.
Toray Industries (India), the Indian subsidiary of Toray Industries based in Japan, performed groundbreaking ceremony for the project in July 2018 and soon work began.
As per the update available with Projects Today, machinery installation on the project is underway. The trial production is expected to be commenced by January 2020 while commercial production is expected to commence by July 2020.
The project will provide direct employment to 130 people and indirect employment to 520 people.
