Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha announced that the state government is in talks with a business group to set up a bamboo-based ethanol production facility, aiming to boost industrial activity in the region.
Speaking at the 36th Tripura Industries and Commerce Fair at Hapania, he emphasised that bamboo, which is abundant in the state, could be a key raw material for ethanol production. CM Saha highlighted Tripura’s potential in industries related to bamboo, cane, pineapple, agarwood, and rubber. He also mentioned that the state had recently secured memoranda of understanding worth Rs 3,800 crore during a business conclave. He attributed the rising investments to Tripura’s simplified industrial policies, investor-friendly incentives, and regular engagement with industry stakeholders. The fair, which will continue until February 12, features around 580 stalls and showcases the state's growing industrial prospects.
The CM also noted that a major telecom company has begun constructing the first data center in Northeast India.
