TruAlt Bioenergy, a Karnataka-based biofuels producer, has signed a a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board (APEDB) to establish one of the world’s largest sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) plants in the Srikakulam–Vizianagaram region.
The company will invest Rs 2,250 crore to build an integrated ethanol-to-SAF facility with an annual production capacity of 80,000 tonne. The plant will convert sugar-based feedstock into ethanol, which will then be processed into aviation-grade jet fuel. TruAlt stated that it will leverage its expertise in feedstock integration and ethanol manufacturing to deliver low-emission, globally certified SAF, supporting a dependable and large-scale supply chain rooted in India’s agricultural resources.
Managing Director Vijay Nirani called the agreement a significant milestone in India’s clean-energy transition, emphasising the company’s commitment to supporting India’s upcoming SAF blending mandate. The proposed plant is projected to generate more than 500 direct and almost 2,000 indirect employment, driving significant economic growth in related sectors and supporting the region’s industrial development and employment creation.
