United Breweries (UBL), maker of Kingfisher and Heineken, has announced a Rs 90 crore investment to set up a modern canning line facility at its Nizam Brewery in Telangana.
The move marks UBL’s entry into the state’s growing canned beer segment, where demand for premium formats is rapidly rising. The new facility, expected to be commissioned within a year, will add 0.4 million hectolitres (mhl) to the existing 0.5 mhl capacity, taking the brewery’s output to 0.9 mhl annually. It will focus on premium brands such as Kingfisher, Kingfisher Ultra, and Heineken®, packaged in cans preferred by younger consumers for portability, freshness, and convenience.
Vivek Gupta, MD & CEO of UBL, said, “Telangana is one of the largest beer markets in India, and consumer demand for cans has been consistently rising. With this investment, we are confident of gaining market share in this high-potential format.” The project, funded through internal accruals, has already secured all regulatory approvals, including a Building Permit Order issued on 25 August, 2025.
