The future of Steel
Authority of India's (SAIL) first steel plant in Himachal Pradesh is in doubt as
the steel major is uncertain about where is wants the facility to come up.
The proposed plant, to
be set up by SAIL, involves an investment of Rs.106 crore with 120,000 mn tpa
capacity to produce steel rods, wire drawings and corrugated sheets . The
company first identified a plot at Kandrori village in Kangra district of
Himachal Pradesh but now it feels that Nahan in Sirmaur district will be
ideal location.
The state government
has cleared all the necessary decks for the land transfer in Kangra and the land
has been handed over to SAIL.
