The Union government has released the fifth and final installment of Rs 567.4 crore to Andhra Pradesh for the current financial year, bringing the total grant under the 15th Finance Commission to Rs 2,600 crore for the state's healthcare development.
Of this Rs 567.4 crore, Rs 233.45 crore is allocated for constructing Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, Primary Health Centres (PHCs), and Community Health Centres (CHCs). Rs 218.11 crore will strengthen diagnostic infrastructure at PHCs, while Rs 55.89 crore is for establishing Health and Wellness Centres in rural areas, and Rs 52.71 crore for urban centres.
Minister Satya Kumar Yadav reviewed the funds and expenditure in a recent meeting, noting that Rs 2,033 crore had been released so far, with Rs 1,896 crore expended. He also highlighted the delay in the release of some funds, attributing it to lapses that have since been identified and rectified. Andhra Pradesh is now the third state, after Tripura and Tamil Nadu, to fully utilise the allocated healthcare funds.
