Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has announced the establishment of a cancer centre, a trauma centre, and a super-speciality hospital in Haveri district.
Additionally, medical colleges and advanced healthcare facilities will be set up across the remaining districts of Karnataka in phases. Speaking after inaugurating the Haveri Institute of Medical Sciences, the Chief Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to improving healthcare services at the local level. He stated, “Every district must have a medical college hospital, a super-speciality hospital, a cancer hospital and a trauma centre,” underscoring the importance of strengthening public healthcare.
CM Siddaramaiah highlighted that Karnataka currently has 71 medical colleges, including 22 government-run institutions, with plans for further expansion. The Chief Minister also defended the state’s guarantee schemes, stating that despite spending Rs 1.12 lakh crore over two-and-a-half years, the state’s finances remained stable. He called for the completion of the Upper Krishna and Mahadayi irrigation projects.
