CESC's Unit III of 250 MW capacity at Budge Budge power station in West
Bengal is likely to commence power generation by end-December 2009.
Though the unit came on stream in September 2009, it could not able to
produce consistently at full load due to delay in setting up the requisite
transmission and evacuation facility. The company hopes to get the transmission
facility ready by December 2009.
According to sources, considering the low power demand in West Bengal during
the winter months, the additional capacity is likely to help CESC to meet the
power shortage in the northern region during January-March 2010.
