At the World Economic Forum 2026, Uttar Pradesh secured major investment commitments, totalling Rs 9,750 crore across clean energy, AI, and defence manufacturing sectors.
The state signed an Rs 8,000 crore agreement with SAEL Industries to establish 500 MW of agriculture waste-to-energy capacity. This project aims to set up 20 biomass-based power plants in paddy-growing districts, utilising crop residue like paddy straw to generate renewable energy. In the technology space, Uttar Pradesh also signed an MoU with Sify Technologies for a Rs 1,600 crore AI-ready data centre in Noida, which will run on renewable energy and feature advanced air-cooling systems. The project will support the creation of an “AI City” and explore collaborations with global tech giants.
Additionally, a Rs 150 crore MoU with Yeoman was signed for defence manufacturing, focusing on weapons systems integration and technology transfer, which will contribute to the state’s defence sector growth. These agreements emphasise Uttar Pradesh’s commitment to sustainable, technology-driven development.
