Vedanta will increase its Hindustan Zinc production capacity by investing approximately USD 250-300 million for developing underground mines.
Hindustan Zinc will increase its production capacity from 0.90 million tonne to 1.2 million tonne per year in the next two to three years.
The company has received environment approvals for its copper business to increase the capacity at Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu.
The company’s aluminum business will expand its capacity utilisation to 3.3 million tonne per year from 9,00,000 tonne per year currently.
It is set to double its iron ore capacity from 9,00,000 tonne per month.
The merger of Vedanta-Cairn is anticipated to be completed by the end of the fiscal ending 31 March, 2017.
