VinFast Auto India, the Indian arm of Vietnamese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer VinFast, has finalised key infrastructure support ahead of the anticipated inauguration of its manufacturing plant in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, later this month.
As part of its market entry, the company unveiled its first showroom on Mount Road in Chennai, showcasing upcoming EV models. In preparation for its product launch, VinFast has partnered with EV charging and aftersales service provider RoadGrid and, a day earlier, signed a service agreement with automotive solutions provider myTVS. On 10 July, 2025, the company announced the onboarding of its first cohort of 200 locally hired professionals at the upcoming plant.
Over the next five years, the facility is expected to generate employment for up to 3,500 individuals through phased hiring aligned with production ramp-up. This hiring initiative is being executed in collaboration with “Naan Mudhalvan,” the Tamil Nadu government’s flagship skilling program, which aims to equip local youth with industry-relevant skills and promote employment readiness.
VinFast plans to launch its first two electric SUV models, the VF 6 and VF 7, in India. The Thoothukudi plant will have an annual installed production capacity of 1.5 lakh vehicles.
