Western Railway (WR) is on track to commission Mumbai's fourth long-distance railway terminus at Jogeshwari, with Phase I expected to be operational by June 2026 and the full facility set for completion by March 2027.
The project, estimated at Rs 76.48 crore, is designed to alleviate congestion at Mumbai's busy stations like Dadar, Mumbai Central, and Bandra Terminus. The new terminus will be built at the existing auxiliary terminal yard in Jogeshwari, which currently only houses trains.
Phase I will feature two passenger platforms and enable three long-distance trains to operate simultaneously, with the facility expected to handle 12 pairs of trains daily. Phase II, slated for completion by March 2027, will add an additional platform, two tracks, and supporting infrastructure, allowing the terminus to handle up to 24 trains per day. Once completed, the facility will integrate seamlessly into Mumbai's long-distance rail network.
