Construction work on Tata Steel's six
million tpa integrated steel plant at Kalinganagar in Jajpur district of Orissa
is likely to commence by June 2008.
The state government has already
allotted about 2,000 acres of land to the company. Tata Steel has initiated the
construction of the boundary wall and other preparatory works at Kalinganagar
industrial complex and is hopeful of resolving issues relating to mining leases
of iron ore required for backward linkages as soon as the production process
starts.
The company intends to produce 3
million tpa of hot rolled steel by 2011 and will increase the capacity to 6
million tpa subsequently.
