Suzlon Energy, India’s largest Wind Power turbine supplier, was in the news not once but twice in the last week of January 2013. The company bagged two major contracts to set up wind energy farms.
Suzlon Energy signed a contract to supply wind turbines of 21.75 MW with Sri Kumarswamy Mineral Exports on 28 January 2013. The wind farm will be set in Dindigul and Tirunelveli districts of Tamil Nadu by March 2013. Kumarswamy Mineral spokesperson shared with ProjectsToday that the work on the project is underway and power generation is expected to commence from April 2013.
Suzlon Energy bagged another order on 30 January 2013, from Orange Renewable Power to supply 24 units of wind turbine generators totaling 50.4 MW for Orange’s proposed wind farm in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan.
To top it, Suzlon Energy also secured an overseas contract on 2 February 2013 to supply and set up 66 turbines of 2.1 MW each in a wind farm in South Africa.
Since November 2012, Suzlon has bagged four domestic contracts with a total wind energy capacity of 112.05 MW. The company the top player in the wind energy sector of India with around 7,500 MW installed capacity across eight states.
