                                    Orders & ContractsMay 202514www.projectstoday.comThe pace of finalising the project contract hit a ten months low in the first month of the new fiscal 2025-26. In all, 283 project contracts worth Rs 31,607.23 crore were awarded in April 2025. This was the lowest monthly total (both in terms of number of contracts and contract value) since May 2024.The 283 contracts were secured by 235 companies across diverse sectors. Notably, three Indian companies won four contracts worth Rs 1,436 crore for executing overseas job work.BY SECTORSIn April 2025, the Railways sector led all industries in terms of contract value, finalising 11 contracts worth Rs 7,923.67 crore and accounting for 25.07 percent of the total contracts awarded during the month.Major contracts awarded:1. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) clinched the largest contract of the month, valued at Rs 5,870 crore, from Chennai Metro Rail (CMRL). The scope of the contract involves operation and maintenance (O&M) of Phase II corridors: Corridor-3 (Madhavaram Milk Colony to Siruseri SIPCOT-II), Corridor-4 (Lighthouse to Poonamallee Bypass), and Corridor-5 (Madhavaram Milk Colony to Sholinganallur)-including maintenance of depots at Madhavaram, Poonamallee, and Semmancheri.2. NCC was awarded a Rs 649.1 crore contract by the Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation (Karnataka) for the design and construction of nine stations under Corridor-4B of the Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project (BSRP). The scope includes developing elevated and at-grade stations, civil and structural works, foot overbridges, roof structures, architectural finishes, E&M works, and detailed design and engineering.3. Ashoka Buildcon secured a Rs 568.86 crore contract from Central Railway for the gauge conversion between Pachora and Jamner (53.3 km). The work includes earthworks, major and minor bridges, road under bridges (RUBs), and associated civil works, excluding Pachora Yard and RoBs.4. GPT Infraprojects bagged a Rs 481.11 crore contract from South Eastern Railway for constructing a significant bridge (No. 57) over the River Rupnarayan. The scope of work involves building down and middle lines, viaducts on either side, and an elevated station at Kolaghat, as part of the Howrah-Kharagpur route realignment in the Kharagpur Division, on an EPC basis.In April 2025, the Roadways sector saw the awarding of 66 contracts with a cumulative value of Rs 6,688.22 crore. A standout contract in this sector was secured by Dineshchandra R. Agrawal Infracon. The contractor bagged a Rs 5,729 crore contract from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) on DBFOT (Toll) basis.
