The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet has given its nod for setting up three mega solar energy parks at Anantapur, Kurnool and Kadapa districts.
They will be set up with cooperation from Solar Power Corporation and will have a total capacity of 2,500 MW.
The cabinet has decided to allot 5,500 acre of land for the 1,000 MW solar power park at Kadiri, in Anantapaur to be set up by NTPC. It is estimated to cost Rs 7,000 crore. Further, the government has allotted 5,000 acre at Panyam, in Kurnool for the 1,000 MW solar power park by NVVNL company; and 3,000 acre at Galiveedu, in Kadapa for another solar park of 500 MW to be set up by APGENCO.
The centre will fund 50 per cent of this project; 41 per cent will be from APGENCO and the remaining nine percent from Nedcap, for the projects.
