The government of Maharashtra has inked a state support agreement and a shareholders' agreement with the Ministry of Industry & Commerce, for the development of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) project in the state.
The project is being developed by Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor Development Corporation, an SPV of the project, in association with the government of Maharashtra, and Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC).
The DMIC in Maharashtra will cover 29 per cent area of the state and 18 per cent project influence area. The total area under the project will be around 55,000 ha covering eight districts: Thane, Raigad, Pune, Dhule, Nandurbar, Nashik, Ahmednagar, and Aurangabad.
The project will be developed in three phases. Phase-I of the project involves development of Shendra-Bidkin Industrial City, Aurangabad; Multi-Model Logistic Park at Karmad; Exhibition-cum-Conventional Centre, Aurangabad; and Water supply scheme for Shendra.
Phase-II of the project involves construction of Dighi Port Industrial Area; Dhule Mega Industrial Park; Nashik-Sinnar-Igatpuri Investment Region; Multi-Model Logistic Park; and Greenfield Mega City in Ahmednagar. Phase-III of the project involves expansion of the Mumbai Metro Rail Project, Phase-III.
