The Maharashtra government has approved the transfer of 1,000 acres of land to the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) for the creation of a new industrial area in Indapur taluka, Pune district.
The land, which is currently owned by the agriculture department, is situated near the existing Walchandnagar industrial area and will be transferred to the industries department. This new industrial zone will supplement the existing 500-acre industrial land in Indapur, responding to the long-standing demand for expansion space in the region. The decision was made during a State Cabinet meeting on 10 February, 2026.
With major industrial hubs like Chakan, Ranjangaon, Bhosari, Baramati, and Jejuri approaching saturation, the government has identified Indapur as a suitable alternative to accommodate the growing industrial demand in the district.
