The government of Maharashtra is planning to fast track the high-speed railway network from Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) to Panvel.
The government seeks to fast track the project as the hurdles slowly clear for the Navi Mumbai international airport and the Churchgate-Virar rail corridor gets pushed to the brink of abandonment.
The state government intends to provide connectivity to the planned Navi Mumbai airport from South Mumbai through the CST-Panvel corridor by building an 8.5 km loop line via Seawoods.
Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus-Panvel Elevated Railway Line Project, estimated to cost Rs 13,502 crore, is being developed by Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation. The project envisages development of railway line in length of 49 km in Mumbai on PPP mode.
The developer has already submitted a draft of the State Support Agreement, which, once signed, will clear the way for the invitation of project bids.
