New Holland Fiat India - part of the Italian automotive major, Fiat Industrial Group - plans to invest Rs 1,100 crore in India.
Of the total, it will invest Rs 550 crore to set up a new greenfield plant at Chakan in Maharashtra. The manufacturing plant will make sugarcane harvesters, cotton pickers and harvest combiners for various crop applications in the country.
As part of this, it will invest Rs 230 crore in its existing facility at the Greater Noida plant in Uttar Pradesh to increase capacity of the plant from 40,000 tractors per day to 60,000 units per day. It will also invest Rs 220 crore in its R&D facility to develop products and farm equipment for captive application in the Indian market.
