Larsen & Toubro has won a
Rs.1,006 crore order from Oil & Natural Gas Corporation
(ONGC) for the setting up of nine new wellhead platforms at the
Mumbai High (South) region.
These platforms are expected to
boost crude oil output by around 2.15 million tpa and gas
production by 3.87 mscmd. L&T will undertake engineering,
procurement, fabrication and installation of the platforms. The
fabrication work will be done at L&T's Hazira unit in Gujarat
and at Mangalore. The engineering aspect of the project will be
sub-contracted to Aker Kvaerner.
L&T would deliver five
platforms by April 2005 and the remaining four by February 2006.
The Mumbai High offshore fields,
it may be recalled, completed 30 years of existence on 18
February 2004.
