Sterlite Optical Technologies Ltdhas bagged a
contract valued at Rs.2.5 crore to provide optical fibre and telecom cables for
ONGC Videsh in Sudan.
The contract awarded to Sterlite by Dodsal Pte
Ltd, is part of an engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC)
of a multi-product pipeline project being executed by Doddal for ONGC Videsh
Limited (OVL).
The fiber optic cables are to be laid from
Khartoum Refinery at Al Rawyan to the receipt terminal of Sudan Petroleum
Pipeline Company (SPPC) at Port Sudan and the optical communication shall be
through this fibre optic cable.
The Sudan Pipeline Project envisages laying of a
12-inch diameter pipeline from Khartoum Refinery to Port Sudan for evacuation of
petro-products from Khartoum Refinery:the capacity of which is being upgraded by
Sudan.
The 741-km pipeline system is designed for a
throughput of 0.826 millon tonne per annum in phase I and 2.54 million tonnes
per annum in phase I and 2.54 million tonnes per annum in phase II, of gas oil
and gasoline.
