Reliance Energy has been selected as the BOOT
operator for implementing the 280 MW Urthing Sobla hydropower project in
Uttaranchal. The project is coming up in Pithorgarh district across River
Dhauliganga.
REL took part in a two-stage bidding process
(pre-qualification and financial) and was selected by the project implementing
agency, Uttaranchal Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd, on 5 April 2005. A formal notification
is awaited.
This is the first hydropower project being
implemented by Reliance Energy Ltd.
Requests for qualification (RFQ) was invited from
eligible private sector developers for implementing the hydro project on build,
own, operate and transfer (BOOT) basis in February 2004.
