The board of Balrampur Chini Mills, on 22 July
2005, approved the setting up of an integrated sugar complex in Uttar Pradesh.
The proposed complex costing Rs.300 crore would
come up at Datauli in Gonda district of Mankapur tehsil in eastern Uttar
Pradesh. The complex would include a 7,000 tccpd sugar plant, a 23 MW
cogeneration power unit, a 60 klpd ethanol distillery and a 20 tpa bio-compost
manufacturing plant.
The project is expected to be commissioned by
November 2006.
In January 2005, BCML announced a Rs.200 crore
for setting up a greenfield 7,000 tccpd sugar unit and a 11 MW cogeneration
power plant at Akbapur in eastern Uttar Pradesh. The project also involved
expansion of the Tulsipur unit from 6,000 tccpd to 8,000 tccpd and that of the
Bhabnan unit to 10,000 tccpd from 8,000 tccpd. This project is likely to
commission by November 2005.
By November 2006, which is when both the projects
would be commissioned, BCML's total sugar capacity will stand at 47,000 tccpd
spread over six locations. Power generation capacity would be 75 MW and that of
ethanol, 240 klpd.
