Oil & Natural Gas Corporation has entrusted a
consortium led by Larsen & Toubro a fast-track order of installation of
diversionary pipelines and associated platform modifications. Global Industries
Offshore LLC of USA is partnering L&T in the project.
The project involves engineering, supply and
commissioning of offshore facilities worth around Rs.325 crore. This is in
addition to the main order of Rs.930 crore for pipeline replacement and platform
replacement received earlier.
The additional scope involves 12 new submarine
pipelines and 24 platforms to be modified, with completion targeted for
pre-monsoon 2006.
ONGC's Mumbai High North platform, it may be
recalled, was destroyed in a devastating fire on 26 July 2005. The total
production loss was estimated at 1.2 lakh bpd of oil and 4.4 mmscmd of natural
gas. ONGC has since partially restored production from the Mumbai High North
field.
